Integrating 2024 Design Trends into Your Dining Experience

Design trends may seem superficial, but they offer a lot more insight into consumer behavior than meets the eye. They tell a story of what's going on in the world at any given point in time, reflecting the “mood” consumers are in largely based upon current events.

Skilled designers use color, shapes, themes, etc. to evoke specific feelings consumers want to experience based upon that mood. These trends impact everything from music, food, visual arts, and home décor to commercial building design and more.

Adobe, a technology company that specializes in software for creatives such as designers and marketers, recently published its annual Creative Trends Report. Adobe developed this report based upon the visual styles gaining popularity with the company’s subscriber base of over 30 million users. This research led the company to identify four design trends they expect to dominate the creative landscape in 2024.

We’ve summarized the four design trends Adobe has forecasted for 2024 along with examples of how you can integrate these themes into your foodservice operation’s dining experience.

Design Trend 1: Calming Rhythms

One thing we can all agree on is that the last few years have been a wild ride for everyone. Fluid, soft shapes and calming colors are a welcome, soothing sight to many.

The TableCraft Terra Collection offers a stylish, understated solution for serving appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

As the name implies, the collection is earthy and strong with a simplicity that highlights the food without distracting from it.

Made of dishwasher safe melamine and safe for temperatures up to 212°F, this lightweight collection features a matte finish in speckled white or gray.

The Tuxton Artisan Geode Collection was inspired by the irregularly shaped formations within a geode.

The handmade look of Artisan gives this ceramic collection an earthy, yet contemporary appeal.

Tuxton offers round, square, and elliptical shaped plates; platters, dishes, bowls, and cups in a variety of sizes to suit your menu.

The collection features six nature-inspired glazes to mix and match: Agave, Azure, Coral, Mushroom, Olive, and Walnut.

Design Trend 2: Wonder and Joy

Enough seriousness already! This design trend is all about nature, fun, and even a little magic to serve as reminders that life is still full of good stuff.

TableCraft Lindenwood Collection Display Platters bring the wonder of nature right to your tables.

This range features the look of natural wood with the durability and dishwasher-safe cleanability of melamine. Natural tones create a unique palette for food presentation with a design so realistic, your customers may be counting rings to see how old the tree was!

Great for serving meat and cheese boards, entrees, desserts, and more. Raised display design adds height and dimension to your setting, while the integrated cut-out makes it easier for servers to place on the table. Safe for temperatures up to 212°F, Lindenwood Platters are available in 9, 11, and 13-inch sizes.

With a matte brown finish and copper flecks, the TableCraft Lunara Collection™ captures the look of hand-hammered metal for a serving and tabletop presentation that is other-worldly cool.

The wide selection of melamine trays, bowls, and plates are durable and dishwasher safe, making them not just beautiful, but long-lasting.

Safe for temperatures up to 212°F, the collection is available in four plate sizes, four platter sizes, and three bowl capacities.

The Tuxton Kona Collection will inspire chefs and guests alike with dramatic, awe-inspiring presentation.

A distinctive lava glaze and wood grain embossing paired with square and rectangular shapes provides a striking backdrop for charcuterie, appetizers, sushi, tapas, and desserts.

Design Trend 3: Dynamic Dimensions

This theme stems from technology and evokes a futuristic feel where virtually anything is possible. It can translate into anything from a fusion of vivid colors to multi-dimensional depth and texture.

In the real, 3-dimensional world of casual dining, we could see this trend taking shape in stainless steel and powder coated steel finishes and playful shapes.

The Stamped Circle Collection by TableCraft offers an edgy, futuristic take on service with coordinating trays, side baskets, and taco taxis.

Made of 18-8 Stainless Steel, these dishwasher safe serving pieces are safe for temperatures up to 212°F.

The Vertigo Collection Round Appetizer Cone by TableCraft takes appetizers, sides, and shareable dishes vertical.

Simply line the cone-shaped serving basket with paper or linen for a futuristic, space-saving presentation.

The powder-coated steel cone comes with two 3-oz. ramekins.

Design Trend 4: The New Nostalgia

What adult hasn’t wondered why they didn’t appreciate the simplicity of their lives “back in the day” just a little bit more? Vintage nostalgia isn’t a new theme, but contemporary interpretation of vintage styles helps keep it fresh.

The Enamelware Collection by TableCraft gives you the perfect vessels to serve up comfort foods in fun, cozy vintage style.

Made of creamy white porcelain enamel over steel, this dishwasher safe collection is perfect for indoor or outdoor casual dining.

Induction-ready and heat safe up to 572°F, it’s attractive, lightweight, and makes for easy clean-up.

A wide selection of sizes of plates, serving pans, bowls, and ramekins makes it a breeze to coordinate presentation across your menu.

Nothing says dining nostalgia like TableCraft classic plastic baskets!

Durable, stackable, dishwasher safe and heat lamp safe up to 150°F, they're a swell choice for serving snacks, apps, sandwiches, wraps, and more.

These fun, vintage-inspired baskets are available in a variety of bright colors, shapes, and sizes.

The Green Bay Collection by Tuxton is truly timeless. This classic, green-banded pattern is sure to be imprinted on countless fond memories of great meals and simpler times everywhere from diners to supper clubs.

Glossy eggshell ceramic provides contrast to a wide variety of foods, while a wide rim provides plenty of room for hearty portions and creative plating.
